Plastic Fiber Optics

  • Provides economical sensing in small, restricted areas where sensing is otherwise impossible
  • Constructed of multiple fiber optic filaments, each 75 microns in diameter
  • Allows repeated flexing and bending for unequaled flexibility compared to standard plastic fiber optics
  • Features a 1 mm bend radius
  • Offers choice of bifurcated or individual styles
  • Available in standard lengths of 2 m with a variety of sensing tips
  • Provides unterminated sensor end for easy cut-to-length installation
  • Interfaces with all Banner plastic fiber optic sensors

Plastic fiber assemblies that provide additional resistance to fiber damage or breakage in high flex environments. The PVC flex relief ensure a minimum bend radius at the fiber to ferrule transition.

  • Typical flex life is greater than 10,000 cycles
  • Provides additional resistance to fiber damage or breakage in high flex environments
  • Stainless steel threaded ferrule and stainless steel mounting hardware
  • PVC overmolded flex relief reduces stress at the fiber to ferrule transition
  • Higher tensile pull resistnace than non-overmolded design to reduce accidental damage to the fibers during installation and maintenance
  • Works with plastic fiber brackets: SMBFP6, SMBFP4, SMBFP4N, and SMPFP3

  • Encapsulated in FEP-grade fluoropolymer to withstand extremely harsh conditions
  • Provides economical sensing in severe chemical environments, including acid baths used in semiconductor wafer processing
  • Withstands detergent washdowns typical in food processing and commercial cleaning
  • Offers choice of bifurcated or individual styles
  • Available in models with range-extending lenses
  • Features special liquid-level probe model
  • Interfaces with all Banner plastic fiber optic sensors
  • Offers choice of two fiber optic grades
  • Provides many design options, including custom lengths and bends
    • Standard models with an operating temperature range of -30° to +85° C
    • High-temperature versions that withstand -30° to +125° C

  • Provides economical sensing in small, restricted areas where sensing is otherwise impossible
  • Uses a special integrated lens to focus beam to a very small spot, to reliably detect small parts and product traits
  • Converges emitted light at a variable distance of up to 32 mm from the fiber head
  • Offers choice of models with fixed and adjustable sensing distance
  • Available in standard lengths of 2 m with 0.5 mm core; custom lengths available
  • Provides unterminated sensor end for easy cut-to-length installation
  • Interfaces with all Banner plastic fiber optic sensors
  • Provides a continuous operating temperature of -40° to +70° C
